Winston-Salem, NC – Wake Forest University School of Law and Wake Forest’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) have launched a new program: the Juris Doctor (JD)/Master of Health Administration (MDA) joint degree. This innovative program combines rigorous legal education with comprehensive training in healthcare management. It is designed for students interested in shaping the future of healthcare policy, administration, and law.
Health care is the largest segment of the economy, accounting for 20% of the United State’s GDP. As such, the demand for lawyers with healthcare expertise is significant, and growing each year. Wake Forest’s JD/MHA program provides students with a unique interdisciplinary education, equipping them with the skills to navigate the complex intersections of the law and health care. Students will gain a deep understanding of legal principles while also acquiring specialized knowledge in healthcare administration. The program will prepare graduates for high-impact roles in hospital systems, physician practices, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical and drug device companies, and more.
"This program represents the growing demand for leaders who can bridge the gap between healthcare administration and law," says Professor Mark Hall, Director of the Health Law and Policy Program at Wake Forest Law. "Graduates will be uniquely positioned to drive change in healthcare systems, ensuring better outcomes for both patients and organizations."
The JD/MHA program is structured to be completed in a flexible format, allowing students to pursue both degrees simultaneously and at a lower cost than obtaining each degree separately. Candidates for the JD/MHA joint degree must apply both to Wake Forest Law and the School of Professional Studies, and be accepted to each program in order to pursue the joint degree.
