UPDATE: According to the Des Moines Register, the TA is no longer assigned to the class, but she remains a teaching assistant and is currently performing non-teaching duties.
Dive Brief:
- A University of Iowa teaching assistant inadvertently sent nude photos of herself to her class.
- The photos were sent as an attachment instead of solutions to a class exercise.
- A university spokesman acknowledged an email with "inappropriate content" was sent, that it was an accident and that the sender "regrets her actions."
Dive Insight:
The school has asked students who received the message to delete it and not to share it with anyone else. Unfortunately, it only takes one person to make sure the photos have a long life on the Internet. The TA was back in class Wednesday morning and UI President Sally Mason characterized the incident as a "sad mistake," so it should certainly serve as a cautionary tale to be more mindful of e-mail attachments.
