One of for-profit higher ed's biggest players continued to struggle as word got around that University of Phoenix owner Apollo Education could be sold for a potential $1 billion to Apollo Global Management. One area of higher ed that isn't struggling, though, is competency-based ed. And a new survey from Public Agenda, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates and Lumina foundations, is providing perhaps the greatest amount of clarity on the model yet.
In K-12 news, a preview of Apple's iOS 9.3 update shed light on some major classroom improvements for the mobile operating system: multi-user support and improved remote monitoring capabilities.
