Dive Brief:
- Researchers have released registration and demographic data for MOOCs from MITx and HarvardX courses.
- Also released is a set of interactive visualization tools called Insights, offered as open-source tools for both the Harvard and MIT courses.
- The data encompasses about 1 million registrants, and the tools allow country-by-country viewing of certificate attainment, gender and age composition, and education levels.
Dive Insight:
The release of the data comes after the recent release of working papers in which researchers tackled course completion statistics, among other things. The dataset being released is near real-time and is, of course, anonymous.
