Dive Brief:
- Google is introducing a MOOC to teach people to understand surveys, research, and data.
- "Making Sense of Data" will run March 18 to April 4 and be open to the public.
- The course is related to Google's Fusion Tables — a set of tools for displaying data — but many of the principles will be more generally applicable.
Dive Insight:
In an announcement on its blog, Google touts the course as "intended for anybody who works with data on a daily basis, such as students, teachers, journalists, and small business owners, and who wants to learn more about how to apply that information to practical problems." Google has previously offered an analytics MOOC, as well as a course to accompany its Course Builder software, and is partnered with edX on mooc.org, the potential "YouTube for MOOCs."
