- Cengage Learning, owner of the MindTap e-learning platform, has incorporated adaptive learning technology from Knewton into courses that will be used in classrooms starting in the fall.
- With help from the Knewton technology, MindTap will recommend to students what they should study next, based on its personalized estimation of what each student has already learned.
- The first MindTap courses using the Knewton technology will be for management and sociology students.

According to Cengage, the MindTap students will benefit from Knewton’s recommendations improving as the technology learns more about their strengths, weaknesses, and learning strategies. Students will find their personalized study activities in a study center on the MindTap platform, and those activities will help them prepare for tests. The MindTap platform also provides a customizable eBook and a “progress app” that allows instructors to track how well the students are mastering the material. Cengage provides content and learning technology for K-12, higher education, and professional training markets.
