A recent analysis of data from Magoosh reveals some interesting stats about the education levels of members of Congress.
For starters, most members of Congress have at least a bachelor's degree, and as a group, senators are more educated than representatives in the House. Most who have professional degrees have juris doctorates.
And though as a whole, most attended public colleges other than the major Research I flagships...
...elite institutions had the most individual graduates:
The political science major is still the most popular route to the halls of Congress.
But other majors don't necessarily preclude one from running for office — three members have degrees in zoology, and another three veterinary medicine. Classics, forestry, music, Latin American history, ecology, brain behavior and urban planning made the list as well.
